Free Plugin: Analog Obsession's INDEQ
Good news for music producers and sound designers – Analog Obsession has released INDEQ, a freeware inductor-based EQ plugin for Windows and macOS.
This comes after recent free releases like EDComp, MythPre, and Attractor, showing the indie developer is keeping a steady stream of quality tools available for producers.
INDEQ takes inspiration from classic inductor EQs, known for warm lows and smooth, musical highs. Hardware like the Pultec EQP-1A and EMI TG12345 console helped shape the sound of countless records.
Unlike many vintage EQs, INDEQ skips non-linear processing, letting you shape your tone cleanly without adding extra harmonic distortion.
It’s a three-band EQ with ±15 dB gain per band. The Low Band has Peak and Shelf modes at 35Hz, 60Hz, 100Hz, and 220Hz, plus a High-Pass filter at 80Hz.
The Mid Band has a High Q mode with selectable frequencies at 0.2kHz, 0.35kHz, 0.7kHz, 1.5kHz, 3kHz, and 6kHz. The High Band offers Peak and Shelf at 8kHz and 16kHz.
You can bypass the plugin with a simple switch to quickly compare before and after. INDEQ comes in AU, VST3, and AAX formats and works on Windows 10–11 and macOS 10.11 or higher.
Inductor EQs have been studio favorites for decades, prized for delivering punchy lows and silky highs without harshness. They work well on bass, vocals, guitars, and even full mixes when a smooth, musical tone is needed.
With flexible frequency options and Peak/Shelf modes, INDEQ gives a classic EQ workflow that can suit a wide range of sources, from basslines to full mixes.
Final Thoughts: INDEQ is another solid free release from Analog Obsession, giving producers a clean, musical approach to shaping tone without needing vintage hardware. It’s versatile, easy to use, and perfect for adding warmth, clarity, and presence to any mix.
